It is a disorder of the endocrine system in which thyroid gland not produce enough thyroid hormone. This condition of thyroid problem is more prevalent in females than in males. The cause of hypothyroid could be too little intake of iodine in diet. Other causes could be an injury to hypothalamus or anterior pituitary gland, lack of functioning of thyroid gland or other intake of medications, or hereditary etc.
